classes

Check back here soon or email me for our spring 2013 class schedule!

I teach a beginner's sewing class about three times a year.  Here are some things that we cover in class:

-the parts of your machine
-winding and inserting a bobbin
-threading the machine
-basic stitch types
-hand stitching
-fabric care and preparation
-using interfacing
-seam allowances
-project planning and pattern reading

Class members can choose between two projects to work on during class time- a set of 8 cloth napkins or a simple tote bag.  We will cover the basic skills you need to use your machine and then complete a project together before the last class is over.

Class sessions last for six weeks and meet once a week for two hours.  You will need to bring your machine, plus any materials for your project.  If you do not have a machine, let me know- I have one available for student use on a first come, first served basis.  After you register for a class, I will send you a materials list so that you'll be all ready for the first session.  You will need to purchase a few basic materials for your project, such as fabric and thread.

Class size is limited to four students so that I can give plenty of attention to everyone!  Class sessions with fewer than two students registered will be rescheduled or cancelled with your course fee refunded in full.

The main goal of this class is to have FUN while learning the basic knowledge you will need to begin the very rewarding hobby of sewing!
